• 1. What is Great Canadian Band Challenge?
The Great Canadian Band Challenge is a international band search - looking for the world’s next great talent to join a major Canadian Tour. Just send a video that best represents your bands musical talents, whether it is a proper music video, a home video, or simply an mp3 track with photos. The prizes include a live performance show headlined by a major label act, opening spot on a 6 city national tour and much much more.

• 2. How do I enter Great Canadian Band Challenge?
Start by filling out the Band Sign Up Form. Create a profile and upload your music video and band bio to the contest channel. Upload a video in the following formats: mpeg, dat, wmv, avi, mov, mpg, flv. Your video must be less than 100MB and no more than five minutes in total running time. The submitted video must be original, must be legally obtained and created by the Contest Entrant, and must not infringe the copyright, trade-mark or any other intellectual property right or moral right of any third party. Also make sure that anyone you are featuring in your video has given you their permission to appear in your video. See Official Rules for full details.

What If I Don’t Have A Music Video?
If all you have is an audio file, no worries. Just follow these steps:

Download the following free applications for: Microsoft Windows XP or Mac OS X
1. Using the newly downloaded and installed application, import your audio file to the video track
2. Import an image that you would like your music to accompany into the video track
3. Drag the image in the video track so it matches the length of the audio
4. Export or save the movie in one of the following formats: mpeg, dat, wmv, avi, mov, mpg, flv
5. Upload your newly created movie to Great Canadian Band Challenge.

• 3. How does the contest work?
o June 1st: Great Canadian Band registration opens.
o June 30th: Great Canadian Band Challenge registration closes
o July 1st: Voting begins. Users can now watch, rate, vote and comment on submissions.
o August 15th: The 30 videos with the highest activity proceed to the final web round. Your votes will help pick the top 5.
o September 5th: The top 5 will be announced.
o Mid September: The first of two concerts - The top 5 will play to a live audience in Toronto, from which the audience and Judges will vote for their favourite band.
o The second concert is the elimination concert the votes from the previous concert will be tallied and 3 bands will be eliminated. The 2 final bands will perform again and the judges will choose a winner which will be announced live.
o The concert will end with the major headliner performance.
*activity is defined by the number of votes, If in the case of a vote count tie, the winner will be chosen by number of times the video has been picked as a favourite video on a my30seconds.com members profile.

4. How do I become one of the Top 30 bands?
It’s Easy! All you have to do is encourage your fans, and friends to visit the site and vote for your video. They can vote once every 24 hours, so you can keep them voting for you all summer long! The videos with the most number of votes will make it through each elimination round. In the event of a voting tie, winners will be determined by the number of my30seconds.com members who have added your video to their favorites list. 5. What are the judges looking for at the concert?
At the concert the Judges rating will be based on creativity of the music, stage presence, audience appeal and sound.

6. What are the prizes?
The top 5 bands will receive:
- Transportation to and from Toronto, Ontario, Canada for the concert
- Accommodation in Toronto for the duration of the finals
- The chance to perform live in front of an audience and the industry judging panel
- Your performance will be taped for a future television or web broadcast

The Grand Prize winner will receive:
- $25,000 Cash CAD
- The opening spot at the finale show headlined by a major label act
- Opening Spot For A Major Headline Act On A 6 City National Tour
- Major Label Distribution Deal
- Other music related prizes to be announced at a later date

The winner will be required to sign a declaration and release form and correctly answer a mathematical skill testing question before being awarded the Grand Prize.

Additional prizes will be added, and announced at a later date. Official performance dates for the finals and the major label headliner will be announced, and posted at a later date.
